Old news - are you going mad?

31 08 2006

I was attracted in the TES (no. 4675 dated 3.3.06 page14) by the title ‘Music drives staff mad’ - the article discusses a study of music psychology in education which reveals that anxiety, hysteria and paranoia are common traits in music education. (Do you have someone in mind?)
The study states, ‘These seem to be caused by the extremely high standards which music teachers set for themselves.’ A number of other contributory factors include pupil behaviour, workload and low pay. The study is published as Music Psychology In Education (Bedford Way Paper no.75) by the Institute of Education, London, ISBN 0854737162.
